Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting at the Secretariat to review preparations for the Haridwar Kumbh 2027. He said organizing a grand and divine Kumbh is the state government’s top priority and instructed all departments to work in coordination and finish permanent nature works within the stipulated timeframe.
The CM emphasized that all works must align with the extended master plan, clearly marking sectors, roads, parking zones, ghats, and camp sites. He directed that necessary land acquisition and temporary usage be ensured accordingly. To manage crowds and improve pilgrim facilities, new ghats will be constructed, existing ghats repaired, and the Kangra Ghat expanded.
Dhami ordered that encroachments from government land and roads in the mela area be removed strictly. He further instructed that works being carried out under the Haridwar Ganga Corridor by UIIDB be prioritized in view of the Kumbh.
On traffic management, the CM directed preparation of diversion plans, development of adequate parking facilities, and introduction of shuttle services if parking is far from the venue. Strengthening of the pedestrian routes to Mansa Devi and Chandi Devi temples should also be completed on time.
Highlighting health services, the CM said temporary hospitals, ambulances, and mobile medical units must be deployed in the mela area. He stressed on leveraging IT and digital services for Kumbh management. A dedicated mobile app, helpline, and information centers will provide real-time updates to devotees.
Dhami instructed the Chief Secretary to conduct a review of Kumbh preparations every 15 days.
