Education Ministry, NITI Aayog Launch Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025; 2.5 Lakh Schools Participate Nationwide

The Ministry of Education and NITI Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission have launched Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025, engaging 2.5 lakh schools across India to promote creativity, innovation, and problem-solving among students.

The Ministry of Education, in partnership with the Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog, has launched the Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025, a nationwide innovation challenge that has attracted participation from nearly 2.5 lakh schools across India. The initiative aims to empower students from grades 6 to 12 to think creatively and develop real-world solutions contributing to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

The Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025 serves as a platform for young innovators to showcase their ideas, design prototypes, and tackle key issues aligned with India’s developmental priorities — including Vocal for Local, Swadeshi innovation, and sustainable problem-solving.

Addressing the participants through a video message, Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, Brand Ambassador of the Buildathon, highlighted that every idea, big or small, plays a role in shaping the nation’s journey toward becoming a developed India by 2047. He encouraged students to channel their creativity into building innovative, scalable, and locally relevant solutions that can transform communities and industries.

“The Buildathon offers a unique opportunity for students to innovate and create change. Every idea can help shape the vision of a self-reliant India,” said Group Captain Shukla.

With an overwhelming response from schools nationwide, the Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025 is being seen as a major step toward fostering a culture of innovation, design thinking, and entrepreneurship among the youth. It aligns with the Government of India’s mission to make education more experiential and innovation-driven through collaboration between the Education Ministry and NITI Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission.

By engaging lakhs of students, the initiative not only strengthens India’s innovation ecosystem but also inspires the next generation to become problem solvers, creators, and contributors to a self-reliant, developed India.
