Popular television actor Priya Marathe, known for her roles in Hindi and Marathi serials, passed away on Sunday after a prolonged battle with cancer. She was 38. The actor breathed her last at her residence in Mira Road, Mumbai.
Marathe rose to fame with her memorable performances in Hindi television dramas such as Pavitra Rishta and Kasamh Se. In the Marathi entertainment industry, she had an equally impactful career that spanned over two decades. She began her journey with the 2011 Marathi serial Char Divas Sasuche and was last seen in the 2023 drama Tuzech Mi Geet Gaat Aahe.
Her demise has left the entertainment fraternity in shock. Actor and her cousin Subodh Bhave shared a heartfelt tribute on social media, remembering her not just as a talented performer but as family.
“A great actress and my co-star in several projects, but for me, she was more than that — she was my cousin sister. The hard work she put into her career and her dedication were truly admirable,” Bhave wrote.
He further recalled her struggles during the shoot of their show Tu Metshi Navane:
“Cancer didn’t spare her. She faced immense challenges during filming. Through it all, her partner, actor Shantanu Moghe, stood firmly by her side. Priya was a fighter, but ultimately her strength gave way. I pray she finds peace wherever she is.”
Known for her grace on-screen and her perseverance off-screen, Priya Marathe leaves behind a legacy of powerful performances and fond memories for her fans and colleagues alike.
