The Prayagraj Railway Division has officially launched the nationwide “Swachhata Hi Seva” campaign with a cleanliness pledge ceremony. The initiative, inaugurated under the leadership of Additional Divisional Railway Manager (Infra) Shri Naveen Prakash, will run from September 17 to October 2, 2025, coinciding with Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary.

Senior officials, including ADRM/Operations Shri Mubasshir Waris, ADRM/General Shri Deepak Kumar, and Senior Divisional Environment & Maintenance Manager Shri Alok Keservani, along with other railway officers and employees, participated in the pledge-taking event.

During the ceremony, Shri Naveen Prakash reminded participants of Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a clean and progressive India, emphasizing that true independence lies not only in political freedom but also in maintaining hygiene and sanitation. He urged employees to dedicate at least 100 hours every year to cleanliness and to inspire others to do the same.

The Swachhata Hi Seva campaign in Prayagraj Division will be observed as a people’s movement, with each day marked by different activities. Railway stations, trains, colonies, and office premises will undergo extensive cleaning drives. The campaign also includes a wide range of activities such as:

  • Sanitation and waste segregation drives
  • Tree plantation programs
  • Awareness through street plays, sports competitions, and cultural events
  • Marathons, cyclothons, and walkathons promoting fitness and cleanliness
  • Plastic waste reduction, reuse, and recycling initiatives
  • Art creation from waste materials
  • Cleaning of local water sources

The campaign reflects Indian Railways’ commitment to the Swachh Bharat Mission by making cleanliness a collective responsibility. Shri Naveen Prakash concluded by stating that each individual’s contribution towards cleanliness will bring India closer to Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of a clean and developed nation.
