BCCI, Dream11 End Association After Passage of Online Gaming Bill

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially ended its association with fantasy sports platform Dream11, which will no longer sponsor the Indian cricket team. The move comes days after Parliament passed the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025. With the Asia Cup in the UAE just two weeks away, Team India is currently without a title sponsor.

Confirming the development, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said:

“BCCI and Dream11 are discontinuing their relationship after the passage of the Online Gaming Bill. The board will ensure it does not engage with such organisations in the future.”

According to reports, Dream11 executives visited the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai to inform CEO Hemang Amin of their decision to pull out. The board is expected to issue a new tender soon.

Officials added that the exit would not attract penalties, as the sponsorship contract included a clause exempting the company if its core business was affected by changes in government law.

Dream11, valued at $8 billion and founded 18 years ago, had become Team India’s lead sponsor in July 2023, replacing Byju’s with a three-year deal worth ₹358 crore. Apart from the national team, Dream11 has been heavily invested in Indian cricket, sponsoring the IPL and signing top stars like MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah as brand ambassadors. They were also the IPL’s trophy sponsor in 2020.

The company has a global footprint, with tie-ups in the Caribbean Premier League, New Zealand’s Super Smash, and Australia’s Big Bash competitions. It also partnered with the ICC in 2018. Beyond cricket, Dream11 is the official fantasy partner of the Indian Super League, Pro Kabaddi League and the International Hockey Federation.
