Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for extending warm wishes on Ukraine’s Independence Day.
In a post on social media platform X, Zelenskyy wrote:
“Thank you, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for the warm greetings on Ukraine’s Independence Day. We appreciate India’s dedication to peace and dialogue. Now, as the entire world strives to end this horrible war with dignity and lasting peace, we count on India’s contribution.”
He further noted that every diplomatic effort contributes to global stability, stating:
“Every decision that strengthens diplomacy leads to better security not only in Europe, but also in the Indo-Pacific and beyond.”
Prime Minister Modi had earlier extended greetings to the people of Ukraine, reiterating India’s long-standing stance in favor of peace and dialogue.
“India has always stood on the side of peace. India remains committed to extending all possible support for sincere efforts seeking an early, abiding, and peaceful resolution of the conflict through dialogue and diplomacy,” PM Modi said in his message.
The exchange underlines India’s continued emphasis on diplomacy in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, as well as Kyiv’s expectation of New Delhi’s role in facilitating dialogue for a dignified and lasting peace.
